The Corbett Journey – A wildlife Tour
Corbett National Park falls in Ramnagar district of the state of Uttranchal. It has been named after the famous tiger hunter Jim Corbett who also helped establishment of the park in 1936 as Hailey National Park. It is one of the oldest national park and the wildlife safaris are in open jeeps and on elephant back. The Park has high density of wildlife, which includes highly endangered species of wildcats Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephants, Deers, wild boars and crocodiles known as Gharial.
Dhikala, the centre of the national park has thick jungles and high grasslands. Because of high grasslands and thick jungles, the wild animals prefer this place to stay rather and hide. Wildlife in this part is found in abundance. The national park boasts of high number of tigers in the wild than anywhere else. There are several species of birds and other animals found in this national park.
Day 01 – Arrival / Delhi
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.
Delhi, the present capital city of India is a state as well. It comprises of two cities, the New Delhi and the Old Delhi. Old Delhi boasts of the Olden days of the Mughal raj with its narrow lanes and the winding roads. A rickshaw ride through the chandni chowk will give you the glimpse of real Old Delhi.
New Delhi built by the Britishers boast of the colonial era with its wide roads and well planned houses, its imperial buildings and the wide avenues. It has lots to offer in terms of Historical monuments, temples, mosques, memorials and forts. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02 - Delhi / Corbett National Park
Early morning drive 5 to 6 hrs / 265 kms to Corbett National park. On arrival check into the Camp for overnight stay. Evening, if time permits nature walk and bird watching around the camp. Later in the evening dinner around the camp fire.
Day 03 - Corbett
Early morning after a cup of tea, we will depart for a full day safari into the Bijrani side of the national park. Jungle safari will be by 4 wheel drive jeeps and elephants. Breakfast and lunch will be organised at Forest Rest House. Return to the camp in the evening and enjoy the dinner around campfire.
Overnight at Camp
Day 04 - Corbett
Today we will depart very early morning from the camp with packed breakfast and lunch and proceed towards the Dhikala range of forests. The Dhikala range is believed to have the highest density of wildlife as it has very thick jungles and high grasslands. Dhikala has an added advantage as the river Ramganga flows through this area and at places forms small reservoirs of waters. The wild animals when thirsty frequent these spots.
Its location and abundance of wildlife makes it a perfect stop for wildlife lovers, enthusiast and the photographers. Today we will spend the night at Dhikala Forest rest house.
Forest rest house at Dhikala has been renovated few years back and provides neat and clean accommodation with basic facilities. It has vegetarian restaurant.
Day 05 – Corbett
Early morning we will proceed for jungle safari into the forest range on the banks of River Ramganga. Later return to the forest rest house. After breakfast check out and proceed to your camp. On the way back you will see lots of wild animals and birds. Lunch will be served on arrival at the camp.
Evening nature safari into the national park. Overnight Camp
Day 06 – Corbett National Park / Nainital
Morning nature walk around the camp or lodge to see some birds. Later check out and drive 3 to 4 hrs to Nainital. On arrival check into the hotel. Spend the evening at leisure or explore mall road. Overnight at Hotel
Day 07 – Nainital
Today you can enjoy full day at this beautiful hill station. Nainital itself means nine lakes. This was once upon a time a summer home for the British rulers. Evening boatride on the famous Naini lake and explore the markets for buying souvenirs for your friends and loved ones. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 08 – Nainital / Delhi / Departure
After breakfast check out of hotel and drive back to Delhi airport.
