Maharaja Express - Day 01 / Saturday – Mumbai

A warm welcome awaits you on board the Maharajas’ Express at Mumbai station. Then begins your epic journey at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. After completing the pre boarding facilities, you will be served a welcome drink. The Maharajas’ Express departs Mumbai late evening and travels from the land of the Marathas to Gujarat. Maharaja Express - Day 02 / Sunday - Vadodara

Breakfast at Vadodra will be followed by a tour of the city’s highlights. Vadodara is a graceful city of palaces, parks, temples and museums. Begin your tour with the World Heritage site of Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, an ancient town full of ruins scattered over the foothills of Pavagadh, the magnificent Jami Masjid, Kewda Masjid and the Nagina Masjid. After a sumptuous lunch at the ancient Jambughoda Palace. Later visit Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum and enjoy ‘high tea’ at the magnificent Laxmi Vilas Palace. Dinner and Overnight on board.

Maharaja Express - Day 03 / Monday - Udaipur

Breakfast on arrival at Udaipur, one of the most romantic cities of India surrounded by the magnificent landscape of the Aravali Hills. Also known as the Venice of the East, Udaipur is an enchanting image of white marble palaces, placid lakes and green hills. It is an oasis of colour in a stark and arid region. We start the city tour with a visit to the City Palace, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. After lunch, proceed on a ‘Walking Tour’ through the Old Market of Udaipur browsing through the markets. Dinner and Overnight on board.

Maharaja Express - Day 04 / Tuesday - Jodhpur

After an early breakfast city sightseeing tour of Jodhpur. Jodhpur, situated on the edge of the Thar Desert is the erstwhile capital of Marwar. Set like a jewel amidst the golden sands and famous for its magnificent forts and palaces from the Rajput era, it is home to some of the finest architectural wonders. Morning start your day with an exciting safari to the Bishnoi Villages. The Bishnois are passionate environmentalists; a community of nature worshippers in Rajasthan. After lunch at Rohetgarh, the ancestral home of the Rathore’s and now a heritage hotel visit extravagant Mehrangarh Fort. Dinner and Overnight on board.

Maharaja Express - Day 05 / Wednesday - Bikaner

Following a leisurely breakfast, set out to explore the desert kingdom of Bikaner. Popularly known as Camel Country, Bikaner has the best riding camels in the world. Bikaner’s forts, palaces and temples are splendid creations made in red and yellow sandstone and are living reflections of its rich historical and architectural legacy. After breakfast you start your tour by visiting the Junagarh Fort. After lunch experience the royal pageantry as a convoy of decorated canopied camel carts accompanied by musicians takes you for a Sundowner in the Sand Dunes. Enjoy champagne as traditional folk artists like the Langaas and Kalbeliyas mesmerise you with typical Rajasthani folk tunes and dances. Dinner and Overnight on board.

Maharaja Express - Day 06 / Thursday - Jaipur

Today, you will arrive into the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur. The capital city of Jaipur is truly a pristine jewel in the crown of the desert state of Rajasthan. Built by Raja Jai Singh in the 18th century, Jaipur is renowned for its magnificent palaces, forts and temples. Begin our tour with a visit to Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the region, situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur city. Continue by jeep to the romantic hamlet of Kukas for a unique and enthralling experience – an Exhibition Elephant Polo Match accompanied by Royal Military band and “Nagadas”. (Huge Indian drums). After the match, enjoy a Champagne lunch. After lunch explore the bustling markets of Jaipur and indulge in some shopping for handicrafts, antiques, jewellery, pottery, carpets, textiles, metalwork and leatherwork. Maharaja Express - Day 07 / Friday - Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore) - Agra

Early morning on arrival at Sawai Madhopur, get ready for a jeep safari to the Ranthambore National Park in search of the Royal Bengal Tiger. It is famous for its open sightings of tigers, sambar, chital, nilgai, chinkara, wild boar, sloth bear, hyena, jackal and leopard. Return to the train for a hearty brunch, following which, you arrive into Agra. Agra is a legendary city glorified by time. Agra, the jewel of India, is home to one of the world’s great architectural wonders - the Taj Mahal. On arrival at Agra, proceed to the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565, it overlooks the Taj Mahal and Yamuna River. Dinner and Overnight on board.

Maharaja Express - Day 08 / Saturday - Disembark in Delhi

Rise early morning to witness the magic of sunrise at the world famous Taj Mahal. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was built by Shah Jehan as a mausoleum for his favourite queen Mumtaz. After a romantic Champagne Breakfast on the lush green lawns of Taj Khema, overlooking the Taj Mahal. Following breakfast, return to the train and continue your journey to Delhi. Bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express and discover imperial Delhi.
