Elephant Festival, Jaipur (Rajasthan)

One of the most popular festivals of Jaipur, celebrated every year in the month of March on the occasion of Holi, the festival of colours which is celebrated in whole of India. The Elephant festival has its own charm as the elephants become major attraction in their classy attires. The Royal Chaugan ground is the perfect setting for this spectacular jamboree that culminates with colourful melee created by throwing of flowers and colours at each other to celebrate the festival of spring, Holi. Elephant Festival commences with a parade of decorated Elephants marching towards the Royal ground. The Amazingly caparisoned elephants, the symbol of strength, take the centre stage - elephant parades, elephant races, elephant polo matches, elephant beauty pageant and elephant vs. man tug-of-war.

This festival of Elephants revives the royalty of Jaipur and people enjoy the Elephant ride. The Elephants beautifully decked with floral motifs, make ultimate picture for the tourists. People also play holi mounting these colourful elephants. Elephant Festival of Jaipur is definitely a special treat for the tourists.

Itinerary

Elephant Festival - Day 01, Arrival / Delhi
Meeting and assistance on arrival at the Delhi international airport and transferred to hotel by a private car. You will be briefed about the tour and handed over a welcome kit containing all your travel documents. Rest of the day will be at leisure but a chauffeur drive car will be provided at disposal.

Elephant Festival - Day 02, Delhi
After breakfast we will begin our day by visiting the Old Delhi, which was earlier known as Shahjahanabad. We will visit Red Fort – the red sandstone fort on the banks of river Yamana, Jama Masjid – the largest mosque in Asia. Also enjoy a rickshaw ride in the narrow streets of Chandni Chowk bazaar. New Delhi is a city that breathes history as well as modernity & its architectural masterpieces right from the Mughal era to the British era & present day are all worth a visit. Post lunch we will visit, Qutab Minar, Humayun’s Tomb and other imperial and colonial buildings of New Delhi which still retains its charm. Overnight stay at hotel

Elephant Festival - Day 03, Delhi / Agra (by road) approx drive 4 to 5 hrs
After breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, check out of hotel and drive 4 to 5 hrs to Agra. Agra is the home to the world famous Taj Mahal, now a world heritage site. On arrival check into your hotel. Afternoon visit Agra Fort and later the most amazing and adorable monument of the world – The Taj Mahal at Sunset. Overnight stay at hotel

Elephant Festival - Day 04, Agra - Jaipur (By road) Approx. 5hrs
Today you will drive 5 hrs to the Pink City and the capital city of Rajasthan – Jaipur. The city was painted pink in honour of Prince Albert as Rajput considered it colour of hospitality. Evening will be free for you to enjoy the festivities at the Chaugan Stadium. Holi is a festival of colors and so is the Elephant festival. It seems to be all about colors, be they the decked up elephants, dancers in colourful attires or the big colourful turbans (head gears) of the local Rajasthani men. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Elephant Festival - Day 05, Jaipur
After breakfast enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of city including a visit to the Amber fort, the ancient capital of the region and which we climb on an elephant's back or in a jeep. Afternoon city sightseeing of the Jaipur visiting some of the architectural marvels of Jaipur like the Palace of wind, Jantar Mantar (the observatory) & the city palace complex. Evening explore the colourful markets and streets, famous for arts and handicrafts, gems and jewellery and colourful textiles. Overnight stay at hotel.

Elephant Festival - Day 06, Jaipur
Spend the morning at leisure at Jaipur. Later drive 4 to 5hrs to Delhi international airport for flight to onward destination.
